Long Live the King, Nick Beaulieu Named King of Custom Motorcycle Builders

Chicago — February 13, 2017 — J&P Cycles, the world’s largest aftermarket motorcycle parts and accessories retailer, celebrates the naming of a new King of Custom Motorcycle Builders, Nick Beaulieu of Windham, Maine. Beaulieu earned the title during the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show, which announced the winners at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in Chicago on Sunday.

“Winning such a prestigious competition is something I’ve dreamed about since I was a teenager,” said 30-year-old Beaulieu. “Thanks to J&P Cycles for making this a reality. I’m bringing this cup back to Maine!”

Beaulieu’s masterpiece earned him the title King of Custom Motorcycle Builders through its originality and unique styling. In Beaulieu’s words, “custom girder front end, S&S Motor, pentagram wheels and some bad ass aluminum work by my buddy, Ray” made the bike a winner. To those uninitiated to custom motorcycles, the bike is a sleek, monochromatic, beauty that looks like it is barely more than two wheels, a motor and a fuel tank.

The judges, noted editors of Hot Bike and Cycle Source magazines, applauded Beaulieu’s  “less is more” approach, the clean, smooth lines of the bike, and how his  hard work brought it together in 60 days.

The J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show is the largest motorcycle show in the country, with a seven-city showcase for custom motorcycles that featured over 350 entries.

What it’s like to be an Ultimate Biker Makeover Winner!

We catch up with our 2016 Ultimate Biker Makeover Winner Leah Misch to find out how she is enjoying all her new gear.
She has been fortunate to receive some help from some of our sponsors with install of her new parts and even helping
to take some photo’s. We love nothing more than being able to help riders stay safe on the road with new gear for
them AND their Motorcycle!

GG- How did you hear about the Garage-Girls Ultimate Biker Makeover?
LM-I saw an add for the contest as I flipped through American Iron Magazine dreaming about buying a new pair
of riding boots after literally wearing a hole through my 6 year old riding boots.

GG- What promoted you to enter?
LM-I tore out the page from the magazine add and thought about entering the contest for almost a month before
finally deciding to sit down and write the essay.  I’ve always struggled with writing and hesitated entering the
contest since I thought I wouldn’t likely win.  But as I trained for my first Half Ironman I thought back to the
days when I contemplated if I could run a 5k.  The beginning steps in anything is to ‘try’.  Even if I didn’t win
the contest, it would get me to take the first steps in writing a book many people have told me I need to do.

GG- Now that you have won, what do you think of the prizes?
LM-AWESOME; I LOVE EVERYTHING!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING I WON ALL THESE AMAZING PRIZES!!! I LOVE SCOUTS
NEW SPORTY EDGE!!!  Ill totally put everything to good use in finishing my 50 state goal

GG- If you could encourage others who are down on their luck for any obstacle in life, how would you encourage them?
What would you say?
LM- “Take the first step in faith, you may not see the whole staircase; but just take the first step”- “Life begins
outside of your comfort zone”.
Life’s like a bike; to keep balanced you must keep going’- Einstein
These quotes were some of my most life changing quotes as I took many first steps in life when I wanted to give up....
instead I keep going as I continue to live towards my bucket list goals I set for myself after leaving an abusive
relationship I was lucky to survive. Ex… Running my fist 5k after overcoming morbid obesity. Taking my first steps
after breaking my back to later finishing marathons.  Flying into hurricanes to help victims of disaster during
crisis situations. Learning to first ride a motorcycle and years later traveling across the country on a motorcycle, solo.

GG- Any advice for others thinking about entering the Ultimate Biker Makeover contest in 2017?
LM-You Go Girl is a motto I share with others to overcome adversity, break through barriers, and achieve the goals
you set for yourself.
Remember, the only limits are those you set for yourself.  Take the first step and just try; you may not see what’s
at the top of the staircase, but just take the first step to try something new because life begins outside of your
comfort zone

GG- Any special words you want to send to all the sponsors who help make this happen?
LM-Thank you for sponsoring a contest which encouraged me to not only keep riding safely; but to learn how to work
on my bike myself. I added a set of tools to my Christmas List and hope to continue exploring motorcycle maintenance
and the DIY work on Scout!  Thanks Garage Girls and all the awesome sponsors!

Special thanks to Sara Liberte for starting a contest that literally changed my life.  I’m excited to ride fashionable
and safe as I continue my 50 state goal

P.S. my 50 state goal first started when I put on my list “to see the Statue of Liberty”.  I got in my car and drove
by myself from Minnesota to New York to see the Statue of Liberty.  The statue represents a woman escaping the chains
of tyranny, which lie at her feet as she holds the flaming torch of liberty in her right hand)- You Go Girl!
Thank you Sarah ‘Liberte!!!’

After doing a solo trip in my car to the east coast to see the Statue of Liberty; I gained the confidence and
love for traveling.  That is when I added to the bucket list ‘watch the sun rise or set in all 50 states by age 30’…
Alaska is my last state, which I’m now hoping to finish my 50 state goal and take Scout with me safely in style
You Go Girl!!

In the 17,000 miles I turned this past year; I literally wore holes through my riding gear. My worn out gear is unfashionable and unsafe which is exactly why I need a biker makeover, especially after the events on Lookout Mountain.” Leah wrote.  LAS VEGAS BIKEFEST 2014
TO FEATURE NEW CHAMPIONSHIP BRACELET

Renowned Designer and Master Artisan Steve Soffa becomes Official Championship Bracelet Designer of Artistry in Iron, Master Builders’ Championship

Las Vegas, NV (August 28, 2014) – It’s the dream of all master bike builders; being recognized as the best in your class. The appeal of winning has now been elevated, as Las Vegas BikeFest 2014 introduces the championship bracelet and inks the builder’s name into the history books. To commemorate the 14th anniversary of BikeFest (2001-2014), a spectacular new bracelet will be awarded to the winner – and for the first time, the “Artistry in Iron” champion will be crowned like a king.

Master Artisan Steve Soffa, designer and creator of the 2010 World Series of Poker bracelets, becomes the Official Championship bracelet designer for BikeFest 2014 “Artistry in Iron”. With that title comes the responsibility to create a magnificent bracelet to be awarded to the Champion each year.

Soffa’s career spans 20 years and includes work for Fortune 100 companies including Apple, Sony, Oracle and Universal Pictures.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be awarded with creating the foremost trophy for bike-building artists,” said Soffa. “I have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on the “Artistry in Iron” Championship bracelet and look forward to unveiling it for public viewing at BikeFest 2014 in the “Artistry in Iron” Bike Display.”

In addition, Soffa will be on hand at the bracelet ceremony and will also hand-engrave the 2014 Champion’s name into the back of the bracelet.

“It’s an honor to work with a designer of Steve’s caliber,” said BikeFest’s Event Manager, Mindi Cherry. “He’s passionate about the motorcycle industry, an expert in his craft, and we’re confident the masterpiece he is hand-crafting will elevate the prestige for anyone fortunate enough to win one.”

In addition to the personalized bracelet, Soffa is creating a unique collector’s box to showcase it in. “Traditionally, champions display their bracelets as trophies,” says Soffa, who is providing each bracelet winner with a commemorative display case to accompany their new treasure, along with the certificate of authenticity. The bracelet will be presented to the winner on Saturday, October 4 at 6:00pm.

During the design and creation of this bracelet, Soffa has taken great measures to ensure its wearability, as well. Soffa spent considerable hours on the faceplate portion of the design to make sure when it sits on top of the individual’s wrist, it lies properly and displays symmetrically. Additionally, Soffa’s specially-designed clasping mechanism provides a seamless comfort fit closure and ease for the wearer.

The bracelet is crafted in Sterling Silver and features a collection of round cut white and black diamonds. The “Artistry in Iron” emblem is raised in three dimensions to outline the details. “Unique characteristics like these make this Championship bracelet truly priceless,” says the designer.

In 2005, Soffa launched his timepiece collection at the Laughlin River Run bike rally. Since then, his dynamic artistry in time and fine jewelry has taken the bike industry by storm and has received Gold awards from JCK and PPAI for his technical designs and innovation. He is a featured designer in Sturgis at EasyRiders Saloon and at One Eyed Jack’s Saloon, as well as Barrett-Jackson car collector’s auction.

In 2008, Soffa opened up his watch and art store in the Rio Hotel and Casino and decorated the entire poker room with his artwork and timepieces.  In 2009, Joe Cada and Soffa created a relationship and before the November final table Joe chose to wear Soffa’s award winning timepiece named “Suicide King”. Joe won the 2009 WSOP Main Event wearing the limited edition “King”, which eventually became the official watch of the 2010 WSOP.

As an artist and jewelry designer, Soffa’s collections include a wide range of jewelry pieces, from rings to watches to necklaces, as well as artwork and clothing depicting his unique award-winning style.

Soffa has entered into a multi-year agreement to manufacture the WSOP bracelets for the Las Vegas and European events, as well as to create an official watch and a WSOP-inspired collection.

ABOUT STEVE SOFFA

In 2010, Steve Soffa created a high-end lifestyle brand for the poker industry. Soffa is recognized as the official jeweler of the World Series of Poker. Soffa is a former Fortune 100 designer who has worked with distributors around the globe to help corporations with their marketing campaigns, and to create brand awareness for their products and services.

Soffa has created timepieces for companies such as Oracle, Microsoft, Sony and Universal Pictures, among many others. In 1996, Soffa created an application called “Virtual Sample” which enabled the industry to create a custom timepiece online within 24 hours. In 2009, Soffa’s Hardcore Watch line and Artistry in Time line was recognized as the official watch of the biker industry and featured in Hot Bike magazine.
