BEING A MOTORBIKE ARTIST UNDER BOMBING

Story and Photos by ITN European Reporter Herve’ Rebollo.

Salut à toi American rider.

May you remember our young lady friend, the Ukrainian artist YAMASHA?

I’m still in contact with her, almost every day. And the least I can say is that she has a difficult life. But she is really, really courageous. She does not give up and works hard, almost everyday in a crazy terrible sad situation.

You may remember that she’s being living in Kirkov, almost on the frontline of the war.

She had two workshops. One of them is now totally destroyed.

But, even in the worst situations, even when all seems to be lost … hope, determination and talent can still express themselves and being an example for all of us … some of us are even stronger when everything seems lost.

And Yamasha does not give up, she is still working, producing her artworks under bombs.

On canvas …

On wood …

On skate …

And she has clients/fans worldwide.

But, and it’s absolutely incredible, fantastic, stirring, strong … she has been able to issue an art book gathering all her artworks!!!

I’m happy and proud to introduce this book to you.

And you know what … ???!!!!???? Right after the Yamasha’s father, I’m the second person on this planet having received the book on a Monday morning in this late November at my office. Directly from Ukraine. YES!!!!!!

Titled: THE ART OF YAMASHA

Motorcycles, custom bikes, muscle cars, planes, helmets painting … a very wide and qualitative production by this young Ukrainian lady who is the first (and surly the lone) artist in this country who initiated and started such art.

But, now, let Yamasha “talk” to us.

She kindly agreed to write, especially for us, the following text.

Yamasha / Art Against All Odds: The Story Behind My Art Book

Or  My Journey in Paintings: The Creation of an Art Book

This book is not just a collection of paintings, but a unique journey spanning over ten years, where I meticulously crafted a world of photorealism, capturing cars and motorcycles with utmost precision.

Over these years, I have created numerous paintings and realized dozens of projects, and now my works adorn museums in Kyiv, the USA, and private collections worldwide. However, for me, this book is not merely a compilation of artworks; it’s my personal story, my struggle, my resilience, and my belief in the power of art. Each page reflects years of labor, and every painting within it is a part of me.

The idea to gather all my works into one art book arose long ago, born from a desire to preserve my artistic journey. I wanted to create something meaningful that would remain after me, encapsulating my experience and creativity in one place. However, the necessity to create this book became particularly urgent following a tragic event that turned everything upside down.

My studio in Kharkiv was destroyed by a Russian missile — the place that was my second home, where I created my paintings, where my works and ideas were stored. In that moment, I realized how easily everything you’ve built over the years can be lost.

Now, as I write these lines, air raid sirens are sounding outside, and missiles are flying across the city.

Yet, despite this, I continue to work because I want to leave something important behind, despite all the trials. And despite everything that is happening, I believe that art is what remains with us, notwithstanding all the destruction. My art book is not just a collection of paintings; it symbolizes my ongoing creativity amidst pain and loss, amidst war and devastation around me.

In this art book, you will find my works, those connected to my searches and inner experiences.

One of the pieces, for instance, depicts a custom motorcycle that I worked on for months, striving to convey not only the shine of the chrome details but also the dynamics of movement.

Another piece is dedicated to a car that posed a challenge for me: I aimed to capture its form and power, as well as the sensations it evokes in the viewer.

These are more than mere images of vehicles — they are stories of how I perceived the world around me, what thoughts and feelings inspired me throughout the creative process.

Every painting, every brushstroke, every gleam on metal is a part of my creative journey, and this book will reflect all these stages.

I hope that it will not only showcase my works but also inspire others to seek beauty and strength, even when it seems like there is none.

This book is a symbol that art continues to live, even when the walls around it are crumbling. Art can stay with us, despite everything.

It gives the strength to keep going, it instills faith that even in the darkest times, one can find light.

This is the message I want to convey through this book.

And you know what?

This book is so good (I can testify, I have one of the first edition) …

… that Yamasha is sending it worldwide since two weeks now.

So, don’t hesitate to order “THE ART OF YAMASHA”, even if you are not a fan of motorcycle or automobile art. You will acquire a good, interesting art book and above all support a young woman, a courageous artist in a war situation.

Or at least, follow Yamasha on Instagram: _yamasha

Thank you in advance for her.

See ya soon on the road, who knows?
