I really have no idea how many people attended Sturgis this year, and I probably won’t look into it any further, but as I moved about the Buffalo Chip, the Full Throttle, Sturgis, the Black Hills, and Deadwood, I saw a constant flow of bikers everywhere I went. I also spoke to many vendors and was told that sales were way up this year, which is great to hear. Teddy & Pam at the Rats Hole said their beer sales sky rocketed during the concerts this year, and with the weather being great almost every day, the party went on into the wee morning every day. Johnny Lange at Strip Club Choppers explained that he was close to running out of merchandise by rallies end. All in all, just great news for the industry. Lynyrd Skynyrd has been playing at the Buffalo Chip for the last 20 years. Unbelievable… but now their time has come & the guys are going to retire in style after giving their all. These kinds of legacies don’t happen by accident, they are a super group, extremely talented musicians with a history like no other. The Marshall Tucker Band and Aaron Lewis bring strong country rock while American Flat Track Racing returns for round two of some of the most electrifying motorcycle racing in the world.
Sturgis, SD – The world’s largest motorcycle and music festival has added two more block-busting bands to its nine-day line-up and announced the return of American Flat Track Pro Grand National Championship, Buffalo Chip TT races presented by Indian Motorcycle in the amphitheater on Sunday, Aug. 5. Southern rock icons The Marshall Tucker Band will kick off the 2018 festival on Friday, Aug. 3. Former front man for alternative rock band Staind, Aaron Lewis, is set to perform on the Buffalo Chip’s Wolfman Jack Stage on Tuesday, Aug. 7.
