BRADLEY SMITH AND KYLE WYMAN EACH WIN FOR HARLEY-DAVIDSON X DYNOJET FACTORY RACE TEAM IN KING OF THE BAGGERS DOUBLE-HEADER AT LAGUNA SECA.
Briar Bauman Races Harley-Davidson XG750R to Win Williams Grove Half Mile; Kody Kopp Holds SuperTwins Points Lead
MILWAUKEE (July 12, 2026) – Harley-Davidson® x DynoJet Factory Race Team riders Bradley Smith and Kyle Wyman each won a round of the MotoAmerica Mission Foods King of the Baggers championship aboard race-prepared Harley-Davidson Road Glide® motorcycles in a double-header race weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Monterey, Calif. Each rider won for the first time this season, and for Smith the victory on Saturday was his first in the King of the Baggers series since joining the Harley-Davidson® x DynoJet Factory Race Team in 2025.
Also on Saturday, Super.com/Rick Ware Racing/Rocket Doctor rider Briar Bauman raced a Harley-Davidson XG750R motorcycle to his sixth Mission AFT SuperTwins victory of the season at the Appalachian Harley-Davidson Williams Grove Half-Mile in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
A Harley-Davidson Double in King of the Baggers
Wyman, the defending Mission King of the Baggers champion, was fast qualifier for the weekend with a best lap of 1:28.402 on the 2.238-mile, 11-turn WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca road course. Wyman also won the three-lap Mission Foods Challenge sprint bonus race.
On Saturday, Smith led eight of nine laps after passing Factory Indian rider Troy Herfoss for the lead on lap two. By lap four Smith had opened a gap of 1.266 seconds over Herfoss, a lead that would grow to 4.690 seconds by the end of the race. Wyman finished fifth and James Rispoli finished sixth on the Big Diehl x Harley-Davidson Factory Racing entry. Smith has finished in the top four in each of eight races this season, on the podium three times and is currently third in series points.
“I’ve been an absolute terror to the Harley-Davidson team this week, asking them absolutely everything they can give me from eight in the morning to six at night on test days, so I’ve been a nuisance,” said Smith. “There was some blind faith from all the members of the team, but when we put it all together, we can do things like today. I’m very proud of everyone who has been a part of this as we put an end to the winning streak on the other boys and gain some points back in the championship.”
It would be Wyman setting the pace on Sunday. After dialing in his set-up while winning the Mission Challenge race in the morning, Wyman led the main event from the start with Smith, Herfoss and Hayden Gillim on his tail. Series points leader Gillim went down in turn two on lap five and Wyman and Smith began pulling away from Herfoss. Wyman crossed the finish line 0.240 seconds clear of Smith, with Herfoss third 7.636 seconds behind Wyman. Gillim remounted and finished eighth.
“It’s been a tough weekend and a tough year,” said Wyman. “We’ve had a lot of ups and downs, but these boys never quit. I can’t say enough about the Harley-Davidson team. It’s so gratifying to put those nine laps together. It feels so good when you can execute a plan you have in your head, and I don’t think I put a wheel wrong. It comes down to the team and all of our partners for giving me an amazing bike. Laguna’s been my place and it feels like it again.”
Wyman raced this weekend using a special number plate and a helmet painted as a tribute to legendary Harley-Davidson racer Mert Lawwill, who died on May 6 at age 85. Lawwill won the 1969 AMA Grand National Championship with the Harley-Davidson factory team and continued to compete for the AMA Grand National Championship, winning a total of 15 Grand National races before retiring in 1977.
“I want to give a shout-out to the Lawwill family,” said Wyman on Sunday. “It’s so cool to get a win here in his helmet with his number 1 plate on the bike. I don’t know a better way to honor him.”
After eight of 14 rounds in the 2026 MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers series Gillim leads with 156 points, followed by Herfoss with 143 points, Smith with 136 points, and Wyman with 113 points. Bauman Wins Again at Williams Grove
Super.com/Rick Ware Racing/Rocket Doctor rider Briar Bauman raced a Harley-Davidson XG750R motorcycle to his fifth straight win at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and his sixth Mission AFT SuperTwins victory of the season in the Appalachian Harley-Davidson Williams Grove Half-Mile. Latus Motors Racing/Harley-Davidson/BMC Racing rider Kody Kopp raced a Harley-Davidson XG750R motorcycle to a fourth-place and maintained his championship points lead.
Bauman and Kopp each won a heat race to open the evening and Bauman won the Mission #2Fast2Tasty sprint bonus race. SuperTwins championship contenders Bauman, Kopp and Yamaha rider Dallas Daniels each started on the front row for the main event (10 minutes plus two laps) on the Williams Grove half-mile, and the trio set the pace from the start. Daniels led the first two laps with Bauman and Kopp dicing right behind him. At about the three-minute mark Bauman undercut both Kopp and Daniels to take the lead. As the clock ticked down, Daniels raced patiently behind Bauman to set up a last-lap move that almost worked. Daniels got past Bauman as the pair exited turn two only to have Bauman draft back to the front on the backstretch. Bauman held on through the last corners and won race to the line, crossing the line 0.077 seconds clear of Daniels. KTM rider Davis Fisher was third. Kopp finished fourth and saw his season points lead shrink to just three over Daniels and 11 over Bauman.
With his victory, Bauman is just the fifth rider to reach the benchmark of 40 career wins at the top level of AMA flat track racing, joining legends Scott Parker, Jared Mees, Chris Carr, and Jay Springsteen.
“I don’t think I deserve tonight to talk about my race. I think tonight was in honor of Dan Bromley,” said Bauman following the race in tribute to the SuperTwins racer who passed following an on-track incident during the Lima Half Mile in June. “There was a family who lost a husband, a son, a father, all of the above. We’re standing in his home state of Pennsylvania. I had a good race, but that’s not what it’s about tonight. I felt like we did an incredible job honoring Dan.”
After 11 of 16 rounds in the 2026 Mission AFT SuperTwins championship, Kopp leads the series with 206 points, followed by Daniels with 203 points, Bauman with 195 points and Fisher with 141 points. The 2026 AFT Mission SuperTwins series resumes August 8 with the Caterpillar Jackpine Gypsies Super TT and August 10 with the Caterpillar Jackpine Gypsies Short Track during the 86th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally at the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club in Sturgis, S.D.
