STURGIS – The countdown is on for the 85th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and the City of
Sturgis is proud to welcome riders from across the globe.
Held August 1–10, the 2025 Rally is shaping up to be the most thrilling in its 85-year
history. It continues to be a celebration of the culture, community, and freedom that
defines motorcycling.
Riders from every corner of the world travel to Sturgis each August to experience world-
class concerts, races, hill climbs, scenic rides, and the one-of-a-kind community that
forms along the sidewalks of legendary Main Street.
At the heart of this year’s Rally is an extraordinary honor: Gloria Tramontin Struck has
been named Grand Marshal of the 85th Rally. The announcement was made on July 7
— Gloria’s 100th birthday — marking a historic moment for the event and one of its
most revered participants.
A lifelong motorcyclist, Struck began riding at 16 and has since traveled across all 48
continental states and much of Europe, always on her own bike until just recently. A
member of the Motor Maids since 1946, she has inspired generations of women riders.
“Her grit, warmth, and unwavering commitment to the riding lifestyle embody the spirit of
the Sturgis Rally,” said Sturgis Mayor Kevin Forrester. “It’s an incredible honor to have
her lead this milestone year.”
The city will be hosting several events including the opening ceremonies on Friday, Aug.
1 with a parade down Main Street Sturgis at about 2:30 p.m. featuring the Budweiser
Clydesdales.

The Clydesdales will lead the Opening Ceremony Parade down legendary Main Street,
adding grandeur and Americana charm to this year’s event. Their presence is more than
ceremonial — it’s a celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, and the enduring spirit of
community.
Whether you are a lifelong rider or a first-time visitor, the sight of these powerful horses
trotting proudly through downtown Sturgis is sure to be a highlight of this historic
anniversary Rally.
Other city events include the Chief’s Ride on Wednesday, July 30, the Mayor’s Ride on
Saturday, Aug. 2, and Military Appreciation Day on Tuesday, Aug. 5, which will include a
flyover by a B-1 at 3 p.m. This year’s honorees for Military Appreciation Day include all
city of Sturgis employees who have served in the military.
Rallygoers often describe the Rally as a reunion — meeting old friends at familiar
haunts and forming new bonds along the way.
“The reason for all these years of success,” Forrester added, “is the beauty of the Black
Hills and the brotherhood that forms among those who gather here.”
Whether it’s a first-time visitor leaning into a curve on Vanocker Canyon or a seasoned
veteran catching a glimpse of Mount Rushmore through the trees on Iron Mountain
Road, every journey to Sturgis is part of something bigger.
“I grew up in this town,” said Forrester, “and motorcycling is part of our community’s
DNA. We work hard to make the Rally safe, memorable, and meaningful for everyone
who attends. Whether this is your first Rally or your 50th, we welcome you to Sturgis.
Please enjoy all we have to offer, stay safe, and make memories that will bring you back
again.”
