VOTING PUBLIC CHOOSES WINNERS OF VICTORY MOTORCYCLES’ ‘OPERATION OCTANE’ DEALER CUSTOM BUILD CONTEST

1“Evil Ethel” from Strokers Dallas and “Desert Racer” from IWAN-BIKES GmbH pick up 1st place prizes, “King Octane” from Coastal Victory and “Grifter” from Brisan Motorcycles named runner-ups

MINNEAPOLIS — December 9, 2016 —Victory Motorcycles® is thrilled to announce that custom Victory Octane®motorcycles built by Strokers Dallas of Dallas, Texas, and IWAN-BIKES GmbH of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Germany, have won the “Operation Octane” dealer build contest. These two champion Victory dealers are joined in the winner’s circle by runner-ups Coastal Victory of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Brisan Motorcycles of New Castle, Australia.

A competition determined by the voting public, Operation Octanehad 26 Victory dealers from around the world creating their own interpretations of the light, fast and affordable 2017 Victory Octane.

“Take a mean bike and make it meaner. That’s the vision we had in our mind for our evil Victory Octane that we call Ethel,” North American Champion Strokers Dallas says of Evil Ethel.

“The Desert Racer is born from the underground,” International Champion IWAN-BIKES GmbH says of Desert Racer. “Special knobby tires, a low handlebar, a metal cooler protection, off-road footrests and a real leather seat make you ready for hard rides! The front suspension is protected, and the rear fender is special designed for muddy roads. The paint job is handmade; it’s a real military color. The design is special airbrush work. To transport some goods we have added throw-over-bags.”

“Keeping with the Victory brand tradition, we added fenders from a Victory Kingpin (modified to fit), had our painter (Rusty Nash) add a SIC custom paint job and topped the build off with a Ness Intake and Bassini 2-into-1 Exhaust,” North American Runner-Up Coastal Victory says of King Octane.

“Our goal was to create a motorcycle that was still recognizably an Octane, but meaner, leaner and more eye catching than the standard bike,” International Runner-Up Brisan Motorcycles says of Grifter. “It also needed to sound fantastic, be great fun to ride and turn heads wherever it goes. The resulting build combines a hand-made tail section, repurposed Arrow exhaust with lobster back headers, metallic cherry and graphite paintwork, 18″ Performance Machine wheels and a stance that begs the rider to take the long way home.”

Fans of Victory Motorcycles were invited to vote for their favorite bike online at VictoryMotorcycles.com from Oct. 31 to November 21.

Available in Gloss Black ($9,999), Matte Super Steel Gray ($10,499), Matte Pearl White ($10,499) and Gloss Black with Graphics ($10,499), the 2017 Victory Octane features a high revving liquid-cooled 60-degree V-Twin with four-valve heads and dual-overhead cams that makes 104 horsepower and 76 foot-pounds of tire-shredding torque. While it has the heart of a Pikes Peak International Hill Climb™ racer and a 0-60 mph time that makes it the quickest Victory ever produced, there’s also a stiff and lightweight cast-aluminum frame, sharp steering geometry, a tight wheelbase and 32 degrees of lean angle.

“We knew these Victory dealers were going to produce some stellar rides, and they did not disappoint,” says Nate Secor, Manager of Marketing, Victory Motorcycles. “We styled the Octane – the most aggressive Victory motorcycle ever built – with sleek lines and a powerful motor in a lightweight chassis, but they made these bikes their own. Congratulations to all of the participating dealers on their impressive creations.”

Badlands, the original lighting module company, established 1990.

image001In case you didn’t already know, Badlands Motorcycle Products has been producing motorcycle lighting modules in the USA since 1990. The company was born in a small motorcycle shop in Reno Nevada and 27-years later, Badlands is owned and operated by Pennsylvania based company, NAMZ Custom Cycle Products. Since taking over the company back in December 2013, NAMZ has made some significant changes to the Badlands line of lighting modules.
What did the changes mean to you? One of the most noticeable changes was the re-engineering of each module. NAMZ spent about a year changing the platform for each module so they could speed up the manufacturing process. The new designs, now using the same mold and same circuit board helped to reduce machine time while simplifying the bill of materials and increasing our fill rates into the high 90’s. It also made for a near perfect module which already boasted a less than a 1% failure rate per 20,000 units sold!
Why is it important to be Made in the USA? Badlands was founded on the basic principle of being made with pride in the USA so that is what we have continued to do. Being Made in the USA allows us to better control the engineering and manufacturing processes which gives us increased flexibility for new module designs. We continue to grow the company by producing new modules for motorcycles from Indian, Victory and late model CAN/Bus Harley Davidsons. Today, the lighting modules are still 100% USA made with pride in our Oreland Pennsylvania location.
What’s new for Harley, Indian and Victory Models? The thought of no longer needing a Load Equalizer on a late model Harley is not true. All CAN/Bus models, 2011-Up Softails, 2012-Up Dyna’s and ALL 2014-Up Models using LED’s that are not compatible with the factory’s CAN/Bus BCM or Body Control Module will indeed require the use of our new CAN/Bus Load Equalizers. Because the front and rear signals are independent of each other, a separate module is required for each.
If you have a newer CAN/Bus Model and you want to install 4-wire LED’s, (running light, brake light, turn signal with ground wire) our IHL-04 Modules are what you need. This family of modules remove the brake light feature from the left and right turn signal wire thus providing a traditional output of running light, brake light and left and turn signals.
Our Indian ILL-IND-01 Module converts the factory rear turn signal and running light functions over to running light, brake light and turn signal functionality once the stock abler LED’s have been changed to our RED LED & Lens kit. Lights up the rear of all 2014-Up Indians except Scout models.
The Victory models also have a few modules that convert stock rear turn signals into running lights, brake lights and turn signal functionality using our plug-n-play technology. Must change OEM Amber signals to RED LED’s or use our OEM replica versions fitted with RED LED’s, chrome or black and 100% plug-n-play for easy installation.
What’s new for 2017? Badlands will have two NEW modules that offer sequential turn signal flashing for Harley, Indian and Victory. We also have NEW ATS self-canceling turn signal modules that will be cancel turn signals using speed sensing technology just like factory modules.
Lastly and most important, NAMZ Custom Cycle Products is proud to announce a new, LIFETIME WARRANTY on ALL Badlands Modules (except LE-01 and LE-02) manufactured beginning 1-1-2017! Badlands modules are fully warranted against defects in materials and workmanship with a lifetime guarantee. A sticker can be found on each module that shows the lifetime warranty and allows NAMZ to track every module they produce.

Where else could you every get a warranty like that?

MATT SMITH EARNS FIRST NHRA WIN FOR VICTORY MOTORCYCLES

victorySmith takes Victory Gunner to 18th career win at Auto Club Raceway

MINNEAPOLIS — November 14, 2016 — Victory Racing’s® Matt Smith this past weekend rode his Pro Stock Victory Motorcycles Gunner to his first win of the season and the first for Victory Motorcycles during the NHRA Auto Club Finals at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, Calif.

6

The celebration began before Smith and his Victory Gunner crossed the finish line. Smith knew he would stand on the top step of the podium when opponent Angelle Sampey went red at the start, so he pulled in the clutch and pumped his first in the air, celebrating as he went down the track.

“You don’t realize how much you miss being in victory lane until you get back to victory lane,” a smiling Smith said. “To get a victory for Victory – I like that saying. Hopefully we can do it more next year. I know we are going to have some teammates with Victory next year, and I’m just glad we got to do it first.”

Sunday, Smith had an eventful day to earn his 18th career win. He beat Hector Arana Sr. in the first round when Arana Sr. went red, and won with a slower 6.916-second pass at 193.35 mph (Arana completed his pass and went 6.871 seconds at 196.62 mph).

Smith then accelerated past Eddie Krawiec in Round 2. Smith’s .029-second reaction time and run of 6.904 seconds at 192.99 mph was enough top Krawiec’s 6.871-second pass at 195.31 mph – after a .063 light.

Smith then faced Hector Arana Jr. in the semifinals, where a stellar .018 light gave him an advantage on the starting line. Arana Jr. pulled the clutch in and coasted to a 7.569-second pass at 134.10 mph while Smith sped to the final with a run of 6.946 seconds at 192.44 mph. The final was over early, when Sampey left .020 seconds too soon. Smith’s run of 8.044 seconds at 117.34 mph included a celebration down the track.

“What a deal!” Smith said. “It’s a good finish to what’s been a bad year. We’ve had gremlins this year and to cap it off here in Pomona for Victory, Lucas Oil, Mark Stockseth – I mean that guy’s been helping me since I started my own deal – is amazing. Thank you Mark and Marshall (Stockseth) for everything you have done for me. And thanks to Nitro Fish, Kenny Koretsky and Elite Performance, too.”

“It has been a while in coming for Victory Gunner in NHRA,” says Rod Krois, General Manager for Victory Motorcycles. “But Matt’s historic win and the teams relentless tenacity is exactly what Victory Motorcycles is all about.”
