The ultimate showman on a motorcycle, AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Travis Pastrana continues to make history.
On Saturday, June 13, Pastrana, along with fellow hall of famers Ricky Carmichael and Jeremy McGrath, as well as Brian Deegan, Keith Sayers and Jeremy Stenberg, completed several stunts on the White House lawn in Washington, D.C., as part of Pastrana’s Nitro Circus brand.
A one-of-its-kind event, the stunt at the White House represented Pastrana’s continued drive to go where no motorcyclist has gone before.
From the start riding career, Pastrana immediately made an impact in the motorcycling community as a five-time class winner at the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, and the 1999 winner of the AMA Motocross Horizon Award. At only 16 years old, Pastrana became the youngest rider to capture an AMA Pro Motocross title, winning the 2000 AMA 125cc National Motocross Championship. Pastrana added the 2001 125cc East Supercross championship to his trophy case the following year.
Pastrana was a 17-time medalist at the X Games, including 11 golds, while becoming the first rider to land a double backflip on a motorcycle in competition. As a stuntman, Pastrana completed the ultimate feat on July 8, 2018, breaking three of Evel Knievel’s longstanding records by jumping over 52 cars, 16 buses and the fountain outside of Caesar’s Palace across three separate jumps in Las Vegas.
The Annapolis, Md., native founded Nitro Circus in 2003, building a globally-recognized brand by creating TV shows, movies and hosting live events.
For his efforts in building up the motorcycle community in a variety of ways, Pastrana was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2023. |

My path to a 500cc world motocross championship in 1982, and my eventual induction into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame years later, fulfilled a lifelong dream — just as it did for the other nearly 500 AMA Hall of Famers.
But would our motorcycle landscape be as rich for future generations if the stories of our great racers, ambassadors and trailblazers — and their struggles to reach the pinnacle of our sport — were lost to history?
This is why I wholeheartedly support the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, and why I’m asking you to consider making a contribution to this important institution!
Donating ensures the legacy of motorcycling lives on for future generations.
Thank you for your support, and for keeping the history of the greatest motorsport alive for all to see!
