The 1st annual Aidan’s Ride Sturgis will be a 75 mile ride around Bear Butte ending up at the Buffalo Chip Crossroads for a catered brunch, exclusive ride patch and pin all to benefit the Aidan Jack Seeger Foundation. Aidan Jack Seeger Foundation was established to address the need for information and newborn screening with respect to Adrenoleukodystrophy. Cost is just $50 and includes a full catered brunch at the end of the ride, non-alcoholic beverages, limited edition pin and patch. Aidan’s Ride Sturgis 2015 would not be possible without the generous support of Metzeler Tires, Hot Leathers, The Buffalo Chip and Indian Larry Motorcycles.
Aidan Jack Seeger was diagnosed with ALD in 2011 at six years old. ALD or adrenoleukodystophy is an inherited x-linked genetic disease which affects all neurological functioning until you are in a vegetative state and ultimately death. Aidan lost his battle with the disease in April of 2012. Had he been diagnosed at birth, he could have lived a full life.
Currently, New York State is the ONLY state testing newborns for ALD through “Aidan’s Law”. As of June 2015, New York has screened 340,000 babies, 32 have tested positive for disease. The Aidan jack Seeger Foundation was established in his honor to help families of children diagnosed with ALD, press legislators to require ALD newborn screening in EVERY state and to raise awareness of the disease.
The 1st annual Aidan’s Ride Sturgis will be Thursday August 6, 2015 from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM CDT starting at Indian Larry Motorcycles Sturgis, 1801 Lazelle St., Sturgis, SD.
