Motorcycle Safety Lawyers®, Flying Piston Benefit and All Kids Bike Join Forces to Bring Miles of Smiles to James Shields Elementary School

February 21st was a very special day for the kindergarten children at James Shields Elementary School. They had a big surprise waiting for them as they gathered in the gym. What was going to happen? Who were all these people? Some of them were literally shaking with excitement and anticipation!

The children all sat on the floor their principal began to speak. The people standing before them had banded together, donating their
time, talents and resources, to bring the kindergarteners a special gift. One that would help them learn new skills, explore outdoor spaces, be healthy, stay active, and enjoy time with friends and family. What could it be?

The children executed a drum roll….and the big announcement took place. The All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program was revealed, complete with a fleet of 24 Strider balance-to-pedal bikes, pedal conversion kits, fully adjustable student helmets, an instructor bike with pedal conversion kit and helmet, two rolling storage racks, and access to a resource portal with live support for the life of the program. All in all, everything that is needed to teach these kindergarteners how to ride a bike!

It was hard for the kiddos and the teachers to contain their excitement. Motorcycle Safety Lawyers® (MSL) and Ángeles Del Silencio made the presentation. Here is how the day went….

It began with the assembly of the bike racks and bikes by MSL and Ángeles Del Silencio

The children were brought to the gym for the presentation. The Bikes were all covered up.

The Bikes were revealed for all the children to see including the instructor bike for their gym teacher!

Each child was fitted with a helmet and then given a lesson/demonstration by the instructor!

And then the fun began! 12th Ward Alderman Julia Ramiriz even joined us. A good time was had by all!

Learn-to-Ride Program

The All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program’s mission is to give every child in America the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike in Kindergarten PE class! It’s a comprehensive program that includes teacher training and certification with a complete curriculum including lesson plans, games and activities. All the equipment is provided as well as access to a resource portal with live support for the life of the program. All in all, everything that is needed to teach kids how to ride a bike!

Supported by the Strider Education Foundation, All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Programs are active in over 1,500 schools across all 50 states, teaching more than 150,000 kids to ride each year and over 1 million kids throughout the 10-year lifespan of the
