Women’s Fennimore Riding Jacket from Harley-Davidson Motorclothes

People who design motorcycle jackets have a tough job. Every rider has a list of the ideal features their perfect jacket contains – and every rider’s list is different.

Women riders in particular have long yearned for female-tailored gear and it’s satisfying that many manufacturers have not only heard those pleas but have responded by expanding the options. Prominent among them is Harley-Davidson Motorclothes, who know a thing or two about the needs of riders. A recent test of H-D’s Women’s Fennimore Riding Jacket revealed a plethora of details and functional aspects that prove the case.

The Fennimore is a reasonably priced, three-season textile jacket with everything a rider needs and nothing you don’t. With a removable, quilted vest liner, proper venting, action back and pre-curved sleeves it packs in a lot of value for $175.

The colorblock design is distinctive and attractive with 100% polyester Carbolex shell and poly mesh liner. Don’t worry about the white shoulders and sleeves; they’re Teflon treated to repel dirt and grime. Embroidered graphics and rubber patches add interest and brand detail.

Addressing function, the Fennimore features a removable, quilted vest liner; strategically placed and adjustable venting in the front, back and sleeves; action back and pre-curved sleeves; cuff zippers; and both internal and external pockets. (Hooray for lots of pockets on women’s gear!)

Every body is different so to aid fit there are inner arm sleeve darts for less bulk, power-stretch sides, and tabs that snap at the waist. These touches make a difference when you add a layer underneath or ride in warmer weather without the quilted liner, say, when tossing the Fennimore on over a tank. Those stretch panels on the sides make for a comfortable hug without gaps, and two-way zipper makes getting set to ride a breeze. Adjustability matters.

For safety, the Fennimore has body armor pockets in key areas (sold separately) and 3M Scotchlite reflective piping to enhance visibility.

Vents, adjustable side tab, side stretch panel, and exterior pocket.

In addition to the stylish good looks, features I especially appreciate are the soft lining inside the collar, the great fit thanks to those side panels, and the reasonable price – meaning little guilt for adding another option to the gear closet. Better still, the Motorclothes line-up has many more choices with equally generous features. See them at https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/c/womens-motorcycle-clothes
