Ray Price Harley-Davidson is an anchor in the North Carolina motorcycle community. And though Ray himself is sorely missed since his passing in December 2015, the dealership thrives in its 35th year.
That was much in evidence at Girls Kick Butt, a women’s riding event held March 4, and just like ladies night at the night spot, when women are made welcome men turn out, too.
The main building on the dealership’s moto-campus is set up like a drag strip inside, and the mezzanine is a drag racing museum chronicling Ray’s history in the sport. The Garage annex is an aftermarket parts warehouse, with service placed between the two. That leaves South Saunders Street open for bike parking, vendor booths and, on this day, a performance area for stunt rider Christina Billings
Landspeed record racer and custom painter Jody Perewitz was on hand to help judge the ladies-only bike show and meet riders. Add in the local blood bank, a BBQ cook-off for charity, live music and vendors and you’ve got a perfect, gorgeous Carolina spring day.
Events like these are grassroots biking at its best.
