The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that Indian Motorcycle Company is recalling 806 of its 2015 model year Scout motorcycles manufactured from May 12, 2014, to February 13, 2015. A problem with the rear brake master cylinder could cause the motorcycles to have a reduced or a complete loss of rear brake power. This may lengthen slowing or stopping distance to the motorcycle thus increasing the risk of a crash.
Indian will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the rear brake master cylinder, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in March 2015. Contact the Indian Motorcycle Consumer Service Department at 1-877-204-3697. Indian’s number for this recall is I-15-01 A/B, the NHTSA Campaign Number is 15V142000. Models affected include: N15MSA00AA, N15MSA00AH, N15MSA00AR, N15MSA00AS, N15MSA00BA, N15MSA00BH, N15MSA00BS, N15MSA00CA, and N15MSA00CS.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
